Moroccan outsider artist Ben Ali - Fez Hat
The work of Essaouira’s own outsider artist Ben Ali is arresting, colorful, and playful. Ben Ali (pictured below in our kitchen), a fisherman in his youth, was the sole survivor of a tragic boat accident that claimed the life of his brother and friends. After surviving this horror, he dedicated his life to painting. He is self taught and has exhibited in Essaouira and Marrakesh.
