Vintage Tuareg hand carved wooden bowl with metal handle
Hand carved from a single piece of wood, a commodity hard to come by in the Sahara, the Tuareg (nomadic people of the Sahara) used these bowls to store soured milk, a staple in their diets. Repaired, never discarded, these bowls would last for years and due to their lighter weight, versus a clay bowl, were easier to transport. This bowl has one metal handle with the other side missing and a metal strip on the bottom signifying a repair.
Dimensions:
35.5” D x 18” H
Weight:
3.7 lbs
