Moroccan outsider artist Ben Ali - Rocking Horse
The work of Essaouira’s own outsider artist Ben Ali is arresting, colorful, and playful. Ben Ali (pictured below in our kitchen), a fisherman in his youth, was the sole survivor of a tragic boat accident that claimed the life of his brother and friends. After surviving this horror, he dedicated his life to painting. He is self-taught and has exhibited in Essaouira and Marrakesh.
‘Rocking Horse’ is a sculptural piece painted with enamel on hard plastic. It is light weight and will fit in any nook of your house to add playful interest. A gem indeed.
